The bill had passed the Legislature but was threatened with a veto from Governor Kean. But, 14 days after Mother Teresa wrote a letter pleading with him to sign the legislation, the bill became law.
So now we were at the Missionaries of Charity provincial house in the Bronx, where Mother Teresa would accept the vows of two young Brothers of her order: myself, three young mothers and several of our volunteers. But let the young women themselves tell what they felt about the day.
